Abstract

In one embodiment, for each one of one or more content producers, access a content-producing rate at which the content producer produces one or more items of content; and for each one of one or more content consumers, access a content-consuming rate at which the content consumer consumes one or more items of content. For each one of a plurality of consumer-producer pairs, wherein the consumer-producer pair comprises one of the content consumers and one of the content producers, and the content consumer follows the content producer, select between a push strategy and a pull strategy for delivering one or more items of content from the content producer to the content consumer based on the content-consuming rate of the content consumer and the content-producing rate of the content producer.

Dependent claims

A method, comprising:

accessing, by one or more processors, a first content-producing rate at which a first content producer generates one or more first items of content, and a second content-producing rate at which a second content producer generates one or more second items of content;
accessing, by the one or more processors, a content-consuming rate at which a content consumer consumes the one or more first or second items of content;
selecting, by the one or more processors, a first delivery strategy to deliver the one or more first items of content to the content consumer using a comparison of a ratio between the first content-producing rate and the content-consuming rate relative to a threshold value, and a second delivery strategy to deliver the one or more second items of content to the content consumer using a comparison of a ratio between the second content-producing rate and the content-consuming rate relative to the threshold value;
wherein the selecting of the second delivery strategy is performed independently from the selecting of the first delivery strategy.

An apparatus comprising:

a non-transitory computer-readable medium programmed with instructions executable by one or more processors to:
process a first content-producing rate at which a first content producer generates one or more first items of content;
process a second content-producing rate at which a second content producer generates one or more second items of content;
process a content-consuming rate at which a content consumer consumes the one or more first or second items of content;
and
select a first delivery strategy to deliver the one or more first items of content to the content consumer using a comparison of a ratio between the first content-producing rate and the content-consuming rate relative to a threshold value, and a second delivery strategy to deliver the one or more second items of content to the content consumer using a comparison of a ratio between the second content-producing rate and the content-consuming rate relative to the threshold value;
wherein the selecting of the second delivery strategy is performed independently from the selecting of the first delivery strategy.
