Abstract
An image processing apparatus for generating an enlarged image obtained by enlarging an original image. The image processing apparatus includes a change rate calculation unit which calculates a first pixel change rate at a first pixel position of the original image and a second pixel change rate at a second pixel position of the original image; and a pixel value calculation unit which calculates a pixel value at an interpolation position to be interpolated between the first pixel position and the second pixel position of the original image according to an enlargement of the original image, based on the first pixel change rate weighted by a first weight according to the interpolation position and the second pixel change rate weighted by a second weight according to the interpolation position.
Claims13
An image processing apparatus comprising:
- a change rate calculation unit which calculates a first pixel change rate at a first pixel position of an original image and a second pixel change rate at a second pixel position of the original image;
- and
- a pixel value calculation unit which calculates a pixel value at an interpolation position to be interpolated between the first pixel position and the second pixel position according to an enlargement of the original image, based on the first pixel change rate weighted by a first weight according to the interpolation position and the second pixel change rate weighted by a second weight according to the interpolation position,
- wherein the pixel value calculation unit weighs the first pixel change rate and the second pixel change rate by approximating a transition of a pixel change rate between the first pixel change rate and the second pixel change rate by a linear or an n-order function, with n being a positive integer of 2 or more.
An image processing method comprising:
- calculating a first pixel change rate at a first pixel position of an original image and a second pixel change rate at a second pixel position of the original image;
- and
- calculating a pixel value at an interpolation position to be interpolated between the first pixel position and the second pixel position according to an enlargement of the original image, based on the first pixel change rate weighted by a first weight according to the interpolation position and the second pixel change rate weighted by a second weight according to the interpolation position.
- wherein the calculating a pixel value comprises weighing the first pixel change rate by the first weight and weighing the second pixel change rate by the second weight, by approximating a transition of a pixel change rate between the first pixel change rate and the second pixel change rate by a linear or an n-order function, with n being a positive integer of 2 or more.
