Abstract
A variable-flux motor drive system including a permanent-magnet motor including a permanent magnet, an inverter to drive the permanent-magnet motor, and a magnetize device to pass a magnetizing current for controlling flux of the permanent magnet. The permanent magnet is a variable magnet whose flux density is variable depending on a magnetizing current from the inverter. The magnetize device passes a magnetizing current that is over a magnetization saturation zone of magnetic material of the variable magnet. This system improves a flux repeatability of the variable magnet and a torque accuracy.
Claims12
A variable-flux motor drive system comprising:
- a permanent-magnet motor employing a permanent magnet;
- an inverter to drive the permanent-magnet motor;
- and
- a magnetizing unit to pass a magnetizing current for controlling the flux of the permanent magnet,
- the permanent magnet at least partially having a variable magnet whose flux density is variable in response to a magnetizing current from the inverter, and
- the magnetizing unit having a capacity of passing a magnetizing current that exceeds a magnetization saturation zone of magnetic material of the variable magnet, wherein the variable magnet includes two or more variable magnets that form stepwise saturation zones with respect to a magnetizing current of the inverter.
A motor drive system comprising:
- an inverter that drives a motor, the motor having a first permanent magnet, and a plurality of second permanent magnets, wherein the plurality of the second permanent magnets each have a different saturation level and a flux density of each of the plurality of second permanent magnet varies based on a magnetizing current generated from the inverter, the magnetizing current is set so as to saturate at least one of the second permanent magnets;
- and
- a motor drive controller that controls, when varying the flux density of at least one of the second permanent magnets, the inverter to generate one of a plurality of levels of magnetizing currents.
A motor drive system comprising:
- an inverter that drives a motor, the motor having a first permanent magnet, a second permanent magnet, and a third permanent magnet, wherein a first flux density of the first permanent magnet and a second flux density of the second permanent magnet vary based on a magnetizing current generated from the inverter, the magnetizing current is set so as to saturate at least one of the first and second permanent magnets, and the first permanent magnet has a different saturation level than the second permanent magnet;
- and
- a motor drive controller that controls, when varying at least one of the first flux density and the second flux density, the inverter to generate one of a first magnetizing current and a second magnetizing current larger than the first magnetizing current, wherein the first magnetizing current is selected for varying the first flux density and the second magnetizing current is selected for varying the second flux density or both of the first flux density and the second flux density.
