Abstract
A cotton cultivar, designated UA103, is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of cotton cultivar UA103, to the plants of cotton UA103 and to methods for producing a cotton plant produced by crossing the cultivar UA103 with itself or another cotton variety. The invention further relates to hybrid cotton seeds and plants produced by crossing the cultivar UA103 with another cotton cultivar.
Claims23
A seed of cotton cultivar UA103, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12405.
A method of introducing a desired trait into cotton cultivar UA103, wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing a UA103 plant, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12405, with a plant of another cotton cultivar that comprises a desired trait to produce progeny plants, wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait;
- (c) backcrossing the selected progeny plants with the UA103 plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait;
