Abstract
A novel soybean variety, designated XBP40009 is provided. Also provided are the seeds of soybean variety XBP40009, cells from soybean variety XBP40009, plants of soybean XBP40009, and plant parts of soybean variety XBP40009. Methods provided include producing a soybean plant by crossing soybean variety XBP40009 with another soybean plant, methods for introgressing a transgenic trait, a mutant trait, and/or a native trait into soybean variety XBP40009, methods for producing other soybean varieties or plant parts derived from soybean variety XBP40009, and methods of characterizing soybean variety XBP40009. Soybean seed, cells, plants, germplasm, breeding lines, varieties, and plant parts produced by these methods and/or derived from soybean variety XBP40009 are further provided.

A plant or a plant part of soybean variety XBP40009, representative seed of said soybean variety XBP40009 having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120142.
A seed of soybean variety XBP40009, representative seed of said soybean variety XBP40009 having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120142.
A soybean seed obtained by introducing a transgene into soybean variety XBP40009 and producing said seed comprising the transgene, wherein a plant grown from said seed has substantially all of the morphological and physiological characteristics of soybean variety XBP40009 when own in the same environmental conditions.
A soybean plant, or a part thereof, expressing all the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean variety XBP40009, representative seed of said soybean variety XBP40009 having been deposited under ATCC Accession Number PTA-120142.
A method comprising isolating nucleic acids from a plant, a plant part, or a seed of soybean variety XBP40009, analyzing said nucleic acids to produce data, and recording the data for XBP40009.
