Abstract
Devices and methods of use for brush holder assemblies are disclosed. Brush holder assemblies including a mounting block and a brush holder are disclosed. Also illustrated is a brush holder assembly including a first portion in sliding engagement with a second portion. In some embodiments the brush holder includes a channel, such that at least a portion of the mounting block is disposed within the channel of the brush holder.
Claims12
A brush holder assembly for an electrical machine, the brush holder assembly comprising:
- a stationary part for securing to a base member of the electrical machine;
- a brush holder for receiving a brush therein, the brush holder being removably engageable to the stationary part to position a brush in contact with a conductive surface of the electrical machine, the brush holder including a receiver component for mating with the stationary part;
- and
- a brush disposable in the brush holder including an electrical lead extending from the brush to a terminal;
- wherein the terminal moves into direct contact with the stationary part to automatically complete an electrical pathway between the brush and the stationary part when the receiver component of the brush holder is engaged with the stationary part and the electrical pathway between the terminal and the stationary part is automatically broken when the receiver component of the brush holder is disengaged from the stationary part.
