Abstract

A link fitting having bearing supports, an inner core and an outer band surrounding it all. Each bearing support includes a first stepped portion, a separate second stepped portion and a recess disposed between the first and second stepped portions. The inner core includes a central elongate layer, a first outer layer and a second outer layer. The first and second outer layers are disposed on opposed first and second sides of the central layer. The first outer layer engages the first side of the central layer and a portion of the first stepped portion on each of the two bearing supports. The second outer layer engaging the second side of the central layer and a portion of the second stepped portion on each of the two bearing supports. Opposed first and second ends of the central layer disposed within the recesses of each of the two bearing supports.

Dependent claims

A composite link fitting, comprising:

a bearing support to transfer load forces, the bearing support including a bearing bore formed as an aperture extending from one side of the bearing support to an opposed side of the bearing support, wherein two separate stepped portions and a recess are formed in the bearing support, the recess extending no more than an overall length of one of the two separate stepped portions toward the bearing bore between an extent of the two separate stepped portions;
an inner laminate core secured to the bearing support, the inner laminate core including a central elongate layer and two outer layers, each of the two outer layers engaging an opposite side of the central elongate layer and a different one of the two separate stepped portions, a longitudinal end of the central elongate layer being disposed in the recess;
and
an outer band surrounding the bearing support and the inner laminate core.

A composite link fitting, comprising:

two bearing supports for transferring load forces, each bearing support including a bearing bore, a first stepped portion, a separate second stepped portion and a recess formed therein, the bearing bore formed as an aperture extending from one side of each bearing support to an opposed side of the bearing support, the recess extending no more than an overall length of one of the first and second stepped portions toward the bearing bore between an extent of the first and second stepped portions;
an inner laminate core secured to the two bearing supports, the inner laminate core including a central elongate layer, a first outer layer and a second outer layer, the first and second outer layers disposed on opposed first and second sides of the central elongate layer, the first outer layer engaging the first side of the central elongate layer and a portion of the first stepped portion on each of the two bearing supports, the second outer layer engaging the second side of the central elongate layer and a portion of the second stepped portion on each of the two bearing supports, the central elongate layer including longitudinally opposed first and second ends, the first end disposed within the recess of one of the two bearing supports and the second end disposed within the recess of the other of the two bearing supports;
and
an outer band surrounding the two bearing supports and the inner laminate core.
