## Abstract

A novel maize variety designated X13B552W and seed, plants and plant parts thereof, produced by crossing Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc. proprietary inbred maize varieties. Methods for producing a maize plant that comprises crossing hybrid maize variety X13B552W with another maize plant. Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into X13B552W through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. This invention relates to the maize variety X13B552W, the seed, the plant produced from the seed, and variants, mutants, and minor modifications of maize variety X13B552W. This invention further relates to methods for producing maize varieties derived from maize variety X13B552W.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A seed of hybrid maize variety X13B552W, wherein representative seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV6T with a second plant of variety PH1CDJ, and wherein representative seed of said varieties PHV6T and PH1CDJ have been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12655 and PTA-120282, respectively.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

A method of collecting molecular data comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of hybrid maize variety of claim 1, analyzing said nucleic acids, and recording data based on the nucleic acids.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

A plant, plant part, or cell produced by growing the seed of the hybrid maize variety of claim 1.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

A method of collecting molecular data comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant, plant part, or cell of claim 3, analyzing said nucleic acids, and recording data based on the nucleic acids.

### Claim 5 (depends on 3)

A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising obtaining the plant of claim 3 or a part thereof and producing said commodity plant product therefrom.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The method of claim 5, wherein the commodity plant product is starch, seed oil, corn syrup or protein.

### Claim 7 (depends on 3)

A method for producing a second maize plant comprising applying plant breeding techniques to a first maize plant, or parts thereof, wherein said first maize plant is the maize plant of claim 3, and wherein application of said techniques results in the production of said second maize plant.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, further defined as producing an inbred maize plant derived from hybrid maize variety X13B552W, wherein applying plant breeding techniques comprises the steps of:
(a) crossing said first maize plant with itself or another maize plant to produce seed of a subsequent generation;
(b) harvesting and planting the seed of the subsequent generation to produce at least one plant of the subsequent generation; and
(c) repeating steps (a) and (b) for an additional 2-10 generations to produce an inbred maize plant derived from hybrid maize variety X13B552W.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, further defined as producing an inbred maize plant derived from hybrid maize variety X13B552W, wherein applying plant breeding techniques comprises steps of:
(a) crossing said first maize plant with an inducer variety to produce haploid seed; and
(b) doubling the haploid seed to produce an inbred maize plant derived from hybrid maize variety X13B552W.

### Claim 10

A seed of hybrid maize variety X13B552W further comprising a locus conversion, wherein said seed is produced by crossing a first plant of variety PHV6T with a second plant of variety PH1CDJ; wherein representative seed of said varieties PHV6T and PH1CDJ have been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12622 and PTA-120282, respectively; and wherein at least one of said varieties PHV6T and PH1CDJ further comprises a locus conversion.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The seed of the hybrid maize variety of claim 10, wherein the locus conversion confers a trait selected from the group consisting of male sterility, site-specific recombination, abiotic stress tolerance, altered phosphorus, altered antioxidants, altered fatty acids, altered essential amino acids, altered carbohydrates, herbicide tolerance, insect resistance and disease resistance.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

A method of collecting molecular data comprising isolating nucleic acids from the seed of claim 10, analyzing said nucleic acids, and recording data based on the nucleic acids.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

A plant, plant part, or cell produced by growing the seed of the hybrid maize variety of claim 10.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

A method of collecting molecular data comprising isolating nucleic acids from the plant, plant part, or cell of claim 13, analyzing said nucleic acids, and recording data based on the nucleic acids.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

A method of producing a commodity plant product comprising obtaining the plant of claim 13 or a part thereof and producing said commodity plant product therefrom.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15, wherein the commodity plant product is starch, seed oil, corn syrup or protein.

### Claim 17 (depends on 13)

A method for producing a second maize plant comprising applying plant breeding techniques to a first maize plant, or parts thereof, wherein said first maize plant is the maize plant of claim 13, and wherein application of said techniques results in the production of said second maize plant.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The method of claim 17, further defined as producing an inbred maize plant derived from hybrid maize variety X13B552W, wherein applying plant breeding techniques comprises the steps of:
