Abstract
A wheel and rear hub gearbox assembly for single-sided mounting to a bicycle frame, with the gearbox mounted to the frame by a bearing situated intermediate the axial extent of the gearbox casing. The wheel is detachably mounted to the gearbox casing by cooperating mounting formations on the wheel and at one end of the casing. The wheel is positioned relative to the gearbox such that when the wheel is mounted to the gearbox casing, the bearing is central, in the axial direction, relative to the wheel.
Claims7
A bicycle wheel and hub gearbox assembly, comprising:
- a planetary hub gearbox having a generally cylindrical casing, the casing being adapted to be mounted to a bicycle frame by means of a bearing positioned intermediate an axial extent of the casing, with one axial end of the planetary hub gearbox being unobstructed by the bicycle frame;
- and
- the assembly further comprising a bicycle wheel having releasable mounting elements cooperable with mounting formations formed on the one axial end of the planetary hub gearbox for releasably mounting the wheel to the casing,
- wherein when the wheel is mounted to the planetary hub gearbox casing, the bearing is positioned substantially central, in the axial direction, relative to the wheel.
