Abstract
At least one computing device can store and combine data for a geographic region in a voxel database from a plurality of different source products. The voxel database can be a volumetric storage space of different volumetric storage units referred to as voxels. The voxel database can receive requests from different applications. For each of the requests, one of a set of filters can be determined. For each of the requests, the determined one of the filters can be applied to conditionally exclude data of the voxel database. For each of the requests, voxel database data resulting from applying the determined filter can be provided to one of the applications from which the corresponding one of the requests was issued.
Claims19
A method for handling data comprising:
- storing and combining data, by at least one computing device, for a geographic region in a volumetric storage unit (VSU) database, which is also referred to as a voxel, configured to form a common repository from a plurality of different source products, wherein the VSU database is a volumetric storage space of a plurality of different volumetric storage units (VSUs);
- storing semantic content describing the data using attributes having a probabilistic parameter that defines a level of confidence for each value of the semantic content;
- creating from the common repository via the at least one computing device a specifically tailored product for each of a plurality of different applications by:
- receiving, by the VSU database, requests from the plurality of different applications for data in the VSU database;
- for each of the requests, determining and applying, via the at least one computing device, a filter to conditionally exclude certain data of the VSU database not needed for the specifically tailored product;
- for each of the requests, using the probabilistic parameter to negate data having a certain level of uncertainty having a level of confidence below a certain threshold, and
- for each of the requests, providing the specifically tailored product;
- wherein data elements are stored to specific ones of the VSUs in the VSU database, wherein a spatial position of the data elements within the volumetric storage space is defined at least in part by which of the VSUs the data elements are stored.
A computer program product comprising:
- at least one computer-readable, non-transitory storage device;
- program instructions, stored on the at least one storage device, to store and combine data for a geographic region in a volumetric storage unit (VSU) database, which is also referred to as a voxel, adapted to be utilized as a common repository from a plurality of different source products, wherein the VSU database stores semantic content describing the data using attributes having a probabilistic parameter that defines a level of confidence for each value of the semantic content;
- program instructions, stored on the at least one storage device adapted to create from the common repository a specifically tailored product for each of a plurality of different applications, wherein data elements are stored to specific ones of the VSUs in the VSU database, wherein a spatial position of the data elements within the volumetric storage space is defined at least in part by which of the VSUs the data elements are stored, wherein the program instructions:
- receive requests from the plurality of different applications for data in the VSU database;
- determine a respective one filter of a set of filters;
- apply the determined respective one filter to conditionally exclude certain data of the VSU database not needed for the specifically tailored product;
- use the probabilistic parameter to negate data having a certain level of uncertainty having a level of confidence below a certain threshold;
- and
- provide the specifically tailored product.
A system comprising:
- at least one processor and at least one computer-readable, tangible storage device;
- program instructions, for execution by the at least one processor, to store and combine data for a geographic region in a volumetric storage unit (VSU) database, which is also referred to as a voxel, adapted to be utilized as a common repository from a plurality of different source products, wherein the VSU database stores semantic content describing the data using attributes having a probabilistic parameter that defines a level of confidence for each value of the semantic content;
- program instructions, for execution by the at least one processor, adapted to create from the common repository a specifically tailored product for each of a plurality of different applications;
- wherein data elements are stored to specific ones of the VSUs in the VSU database, wherein a spatial position of the data elements within the volumetric storage space is defined at least in part by which of the VSUs the data elements are stored, wherein the program instructions:
- receive requests from the plurality of different applications for data in the VSU database;
- determine a respective one filter of a set of filters;
- apply the determined respective one filter of the plurality of filters to conditionally exclude certain data of the VSU database not needed for the specifically tailored product;
- use the probabilistic parameter to negate data having a certain level of uncertainty having a level of confidence below a certain threshold;
- and
- provide the specifically tailored product.
