Determining maturity of an information technology maintenance project during a transition phase

A computer program product comprising a tangible non-transitory computer readable recordable storage medium including computer useable program code for determining maturity of a delivery process in an information technology maintenance project, the computer program product including:

• computer useable program code for collecting information during the delivery process, wherein the information comprises operational data and historical data;
• computer useable program code for aggregating the collected information for each of one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the one or more delivery dimensions comprise at least conformance, wherein conformance provides an objective measurement for a magnitude of deviation from the delivery process by determining a percentage of instances of activities of type A for which (CiA−OiA) is greater than mA+2σA to determine deviation from ideal performance, wherein OiA is an open time stamp, CiA is a closing time stamp for an ith instance of an activity of type A, and mA, σA are a mean and standard deviation of time taken to do an activity of type A;
• and
• computer useable program code for comparing the one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the one or more delivery dimensions comprise at least conformance, against a threshold to determine a level of maturity for each of the one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the threshold is determined via the historical data.

A system for determining maturity of a delivery process in an information technology maintenance project, comprising:

• a memory;
• and
• at least one processor coupled to the memory and operative to:
• collect information during the delivery process, wherein the information comprises operational data and historical data;
• aggregate the collected information for each of one or more delivery dimensions wherein the one or more delivery dimensions comprise at least conformance, wherein conformance provides an objective measurement for a magnitude of deviation from the delivery process by determining a percentage of instances of activities of type A for which (CiA−OiA) is greater than mA+2σA to determine deviation from ideal performance, wherein OiA is an open time stamp, CiA is a closing time stamp for an ith instance of an activity of type A, and mA, σA are a mean and standard deviation of time taken to do an activity of type A;
• and
• compare the one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the one or more delivery dimensions comprise at least conformance, against a threshold to determine a level of maturity for each of the one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the threshold is determined via the historical data.

An apparatus for determining maturity of a delivery process in an information technology maintenance project, the apparatus comprising:

• means for collecting information during the delivery process, wherein the information comprises operational data and historical data;
• means for aggregating the collected information for each of one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the one or more delivery dimensions comprise at least conformance, wherein conformance provides an objective measurement for a magnitude of deviation from the delivery process by determining a percentage of instances of activities of type A for which (CiA−OiA) is greater than mA+2σA to determine deviation from ideal performance, wherein OiA is an open time stamp, CiA is a closing time stamp for an ith instance of an activity of type A, and mA, σA are a mean and standard deviation of time taken to do an activity of type A;
• and
• means for comparing the one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the one or more delivery dimensions comprise at least conformance, against a threshold to determine a level of maturity for each of the one or more delivery dimensions, wherein the threshold is determined via the historical data.
