Abstract
A process for producing a feedstock for gasolines having very little aromatic concentrations is disclosed. The present process uses by-product olefins and alkanes to produce an alkylate for use in gasoline blending.
Claims4
A process for producing alkylate comprising:
- passing a stream from an olefin cracking unit, the stream comprising C4 and C5+ olefins to a separation unit, generating an olefin cracking C4 olefin stream and a C5+ olefin stream;
- passing the olefin cracking C4 olefin stream to an alkylation unit;
- passing a C4 olefin stream from a naphtha cracking unit, comprising butanes and butenes, to the alkylation unit;
- passing the C5+ olefin stream from the olefin cracking process for further cracking to the naphtha cracking unit;
- reacting the butenes and butanes in the alkylation unit at reaction conditions, thereby generating an alkylate product stream comprising branched alkanes with 5 to 12 carbon atoms;
- passing a pygas stream from the naphtha cracking unit to a pygas selective hydrogenation unit to selectively hydrogenate aromatics and naphthenes in the pygas stream, thereby generating an intermediate stream reduced in aromatics and naphthenes;
- separating the intermediate stream to recover a C5 stream comprising pentanes and pentenes;
- passing the C5 stream to the olefin cracking unit to generate more light olefins including ethylene and propylene.
