Abstract
The present invention relates to avirulent Salmonella Gallinarum variants by inactivating virulence gene clusters of Salmonella Gallinarum (SG), a main pathogen of avian salmonellosis, and various uses thereof notably in the production of Salmonella-specific lytic bacteriophages, pharmaceutical compositions and feed additives.
Claims6
A method for treating Salmonella Gallinarum-infectious fowl typhoid in animals by administering an avirulent Salmonella Gallinarumas an effective ingredient, wherein the avirulent Salmonella Gallinarumcomprises an inactivated gene cluster of Salmonella Pathogenicity Island-2, wherein the inactivation of the gene cluster is carried out using a method selected from the group consisting, of modification of single or plural nucleotides in the gene, deletion of single or plural genes, insertion of an exogenous gene into the genes, deletion of all of the gene clusters, and a combination thereof.
