Abstract
A fiber optic splice housing and integral dry mate connector system. In a described embodiment, a fiber optic connection system includes optical fiber sections in respective conduit sections. Each of the conduit sections is received in the housing assembly. An optical connection between the optical fiber sections is positioned within the housing assembly.
Claims26
An optical distributed temperature sensing system, comprising:
- a first optical fiber extending along an interval, so that portions of the first optical fiber are exposed to different temperatures in the interval;
- and
- a storage apparatus having a substantial length of the first optical fiber stored therein, so that the substantial length of the first optical fiber is at a same temperature in the storage apparatus.

- and
- a temperature sensing element positioned so that the temperature sensing element is at the same temperature as the substantial length of the first optical fiber.
