Abstract
A method for forming a borehole enlargement tool that includes providing a steel body structure, forming at least one rib structure from a matrix material and abrasive particles, affixing the at least one rib structure to the body structure, and affixing the steel body structure to an elongated tubular body is disclosed.
Claims4
A method of forming a hole enlargement tool, comprising:
- forming an elongated tubular body having at least one recess to receive at least one movable arm body;
- forming the at least one movable arm body to conform to the recess in the elongated tubular body;
- loading a mold with a matrix material;
- heating the contents of the mold to form at least one matrix rib structure;
- brazing or infusing steel plates to the at least one matrix rib structure;
- affixing the steel plates to the at least one movable arm body;
- and
- disposing the at least one movable arm body in the recess within the elongated body.
