Abstract
The present disclosure relates to processes and methods of generating hydrogen via the hydrolysis or solvolyis of a compound of the formula (I), R1R2HNBHR3R4, using ligand-stabilized homogeneous metal catalysts.
Claims40
A process for the production of hydrogen comprising:
- (a) contacting a solution comprising at least one homogeneous ligand-stabilized metal catalyst with at least one compound of the formula I,
- R1R2HNBHR3R4 (I),
- in a solvent under conditions for the solvolysis of at least one compound of formula (I) to form a homogeneous solution,
- wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are each simultaneously or independently selected from H, branched or unbranched fluoro-substituted-C1-20alkyl, branched or unbranched C1-20alkyl and C6-14aryl or any two of R1, R2, R3 and R4 are linked to form a branched or unbranched C2-10alkylene, which together with the nitrogen and/or boron atoms to which they are attached, forms a ring;
- and
- (b) optionally collecting hydrogen produced in the solvolysis of at least one compounds of formula (I).
