Abstract
A computer system having a plurality of devices including a data storage part which includes a plurality of cells to store data, and a controller to inspect whether there is a defective cell in the data storage part if a condition to execute a cell inspection function is met, and sets the defective cell to be assigned to one of the devices if a defective cell is found.
Claims5
A computer system having a plurality of physical devices, comprising:
- a data storage portion including a plurality of cells to store data;
- an address storage portion to store an address for each of the plurality of cells, at least one address being assigned to at least one of the plurality of physical devices;
- and
- a controller to inspect and determine whether the data storage portion includes a defective cell, to reassign the defective cell, when found, from one of the plurality of physical devices to a predetermined virtual device in order to prevent access to the defective cell from at least one of the plurality of physical devices,
- and to store the address of the defective cell in the address storage portion to associate the defective cell with the predetermined virtual device.
