Abstract
Non-dehiscent sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) (IND) designated Sesaco 34 (S34) is herein disclosed. Its degree of shatter resistance, or seed retention, makes S34 suitable for mechanized harvesting and for selection for sesame crop growth in most geographical locations, particularly where whiteflies are a high risk factor. In addition, S34 sesame produces a larger, heavier seed than previously described varieties.
Claims9
A seed of sesame variety designated S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707.
A sesame plant produced by growing the seed of sesame variety S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707.
A sesame plant having all the physiological and morphological characteristics of sesame variety S34, a sample of the seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707.
A tissue culture of regenerable cells produced from seed of sesame variety S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707.
A tissue culture of regenerable cells produced from sesame plant S34 produced by growing the seed of sesame variety S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707.
A sesame plant regenerated from a tissue culture of regenerable cells produced from seed of sesame variety S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707, wherein said regenerated sesame plant has all the physiological and morphological characteristics of said sesame variety S34.
A sesame plant regenerated from a tissue culture of regenerable cells produced from a sesame plant produced by growing the seed of sesame variety S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707, wherein said regenerated sesame plant has all the physiological and morphological characteristics of said sesame variety S34.
A method of producing sesame seed, comprising crossing a first parent sesame plant with a second parent sesame plant and harvesting the resultant sesame seed, wherein said first or second parent sesame plant was produced by growing seed of sesame variety S34, a sample of said seed having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-12707.
