Abstract
The invention comprises a die apparatus including a flexible lip for adjusting a gap between the flexible lip and a second lip. The apparatus include a cross-bar contacting the lip and extending substantially the length of the lip, where the cross-bar is connected to linear moving members. The linear moving members may be moved, for instance, through pivoting pivot members. The pivoting members may pivot by adjusting a slide bar. As a result, the dimensions of the gap may be changed by moving the slide bar in a first direction or a second direction.
Claims21
A die apparatus comprising:
- a die body having a flexible lip;
- and
- a cross-bar contacting said lip and including at least one region surrounding said cross-bar about a longitudinal axis of said cross-bar that is in a spaced relation with respect to said lip.
A die apparatus comprising:
- a die body having a flexible lip;
- and
- a cross-bar contacting said lip where said cross-bar has a plurality of regions surrounding said cross-bar that remain in a spaced relation with respect to said lip and where a plurality of moving members connect to said cross-bar at respective said regions.
A die apparatus comprising:
- a die body having a flexible lip and defining a lip edge;
- at least one cross-bar contacting said lip at spaced-apart intervals and having a longitudinal axis oriented substantially parallel with said lip edge;
- and
- at least one moving member connected to said cross-bar between at least two of said spaced-apart intervals;
- where said lip may be moved in response to movement of said moving member.
A die apparatus comprising:
- a die body having a flexible lip and defining a groove which receives a cross-bar in contact with said lip;
- and
- a moving member received in a transverse slot defined by said lip, said transverse slot intersecting said groove.
