Machine tool

A machine tool for machining a workpiece by moving a tool and the workpiece relative to each other, said machine tool comprising:

• a bed,
• a column erected on the bed,
• a headstock adapted to be movable horizontally in an X-axis direction,
• a vertical spindle head adapted to be movable vertically in a Z-axis direction on the headstock, and for rotatably supporting a spindle adapted to mount the tool on the top end thereof,
• a table adapted to be movable horizontally in a Y-axis direction on the bed and having a pallet mount on which a pallet for said workpiece to be mounted thereon is mounted;
• a pallet station provided on the side of the bed and having a pallet rest for a pallet to be placed thereon;
• and
• a pallet carrying device having arranged between said column and said table, a carrying arm for holding a pallet, said carrying arm being moved horizontally in the X-axis direction to carry said pallet between said table and said pallet station.
