Abstract
A mop comprises a handle and a first frame member comprising a first side and a second side. The handle is connected to the first side at a translating pivot such that the handle may translate and pivot relative to the first frame member. A second frame member has a third side and a fourth side connected to the first frame member at a hinge such that the second frame member can move relative to the first frame member between a first position where the first side is connected to the third side and a second position where the second side is disposed adjacent the fourth side. A method of using the mop is also provided.
Claims18
A mop comprising:
- a handle;
- a first frame member comprising a first side and a second side, said handle connected to said first side at a translating pivot such that said handle is pivotable relative to said first frame member about the translating pivot and the translating pivot translates relative to the first frame member between a leading edge and a trailing edge of the first frame member;
- a second frame member having a third side and a fourth side connected to the first frame member at a hinge at the leading edge such that the second frame member is movable relative to the first frame member between a first position where the first side is connected to the third side, the first frame member and the second frame member are disposed parallel to one another and the handle is pivotable about the translating pivot through approximately 180 degrees, and a second position where the second side is disposed adjacent the fourth side.
A method of using a mop comprising:
- providing a mop with pockets;
- providing a handle;
- a first frame member comprising a first side and a second side, said handle connected to said first side at a translating pivot such that said handle is pivotable relative to said first frame member about the translating pivot and the translating pivot translates relative to the first frame member between a leading edge and a trailing edge of the first frame member;
- and a second frame member having a third side and a fourth side connected to the first frame member at a hinge at the leading edge such that the second frame member can move relative to the first frame member between a first position where the first side is connected to the third side, the first frame member and the second frame member are disposed parallel to one another and the handle is pivotable about the translating pivot through approximately 180 degrees, and a second position where the second side is disposed adjacent the fourth side;
- placing the frame on the mop in the second position with the translating pivot adjacent the leading edge;
- pressing the handle to flatten the frame and move the frame into the pockets;
- moving the translating pivot to the trailing edge;
- folding the first frame member relative to the second frame member to the first position as the handle rotates relative to the first frame member through approximately 180 degrees.
