Abstract
An embodiment includes a method that includes receiving source commands to establish a configuration to control a computer networking function in a computer networking device, wherein the source commands are written in a source command language. The method selectively translates the source commands from the source command language to target commands written in a target command language, wherein the translation is based, at least in part, on a function-to-function translation model. The configuration is established in the computer networking device based on the target commands.
Claims15
A method, comprising:
- accessing, by at least a hardware component, a first model of a computer networking device, wherein the first model identifies functional configurations into which the computer networking device can be placed;
- accessing, by at least the hardware component, a source command language model, wherein the source command language model identifies a subset of functional configurations in the first model into which the computer networking device can be placed by executing commands from the source command language;
- accessing, by at least the hardware component, a target command language model, wherein the target command language model identifies a subset of functional configurations in the first model into which the computer networking device can be placed by executing commands from the target command language;
- accessing, by at least the hardware component, a source command written in the source command language;
- and
- translating, by at least the hardware component, the source command to produce an output comprising a target command written in the target command language, wherein the target command when executed by the computer networking device will cause the computer networking device to be placed in a functional configuration that would be produced if the source command was executed on the computer networking device.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory;
- an interface connecting the processor, the memory, and a set of logics,
- the set of logics comprising:
- computer networking logic configured to perform a computer networking function as controlled, at least in part, by a configuration;
- command line interface logic configured to receive source commands to establish the configuration, the source commands being written in a source command language;
- translation logic configured to selectively translate the source commands from the source command language to target commands written in a target command language, wherein the translation is based, at least in part, on a function to function translation model;
- and
- configuration logic configured to establish the configuration based on the target commands;
- and
- a data store to store the function to function translation model.
A method, comprising:
- receiving, by at least a hardware component, source commands to establish a configuration to control a computer networking function in a computer networking device, wherein the source commands are written in a source command language;
- selectively translating, by at least the hardware component, the source commands from the source command language to target commands written in a target command language, wherein the translation is based, at least in part, on a function-to-function translation model;
- and
- establishing, by at least the hardware component, the configuration in the computer networking device based on the target commands.
