An optical element is disclosed which includes transparent superconductor material.

An optical element comprising transparent superconductor material formed so that in at least one region of the superconducting state, a superconducting critical wavelength is within a transparent band gap of the transparent superconductor material.
Optical apparatus comprising:
- at least one optical element according to formed of transparent superconductor material formed so that in at least one region of the superconducting state, a superconducting critical wavelength is within a transparent band gap of the transparent superconductor material.
A delay device for delaying electromagnetic radiation comprising:
- transparent superconductor material formed so that in at least one region of the superconducting state, a superconducting critical wavelength is within a transparent band gap of the transparent superconductor material;
- and
- means for directing electromagnetic radiation through the transparent superconductor material.
