Methods for producing a maize plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH179D through backcross conversion and/or transformation, and to the maize seed, plant and plant part produced thereby. Hybrid maize seed, plant or plant part produced by crossing the variety PH179D or a locus conversion of PH179D with another maize variety.
Claims20
A seed of inbred maize variety PH179D, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-13243.
A converted seed of inbred maize variety PH179D, wherein representative seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-13243, wherein said converted seed comprises a locus conversion, and wherein said converted seed grows into a plant having said locus conversion and otherwise has essentially the same phenotypic characteristics as inbred maize variety PH179D listed in Table 1 when grown under the same environmental conditions.
A seed of inbred maize variety PH179D, representative seed of said variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-13243, further comprising a transgene.
