Frequency and timing offset estimation algorithm for DTV (DVB-T2) receivers

A computer program product comprising:

• a non-transitiry computer usable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer readable program code adapted to be executed by a processor to implement functions comprising:
• determining, by a receiver, a frequency offset in a signal comprising a set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols, the determining including:
• determining a first difference in phase angles between an nth OFDM symbol and an nth+1 OFDM symbol on a common OFDM carrier and a first difference in phase angles between the nth+1 OFDM symbol and an nth+2 OFDM symbol on the common OFDM carrier, and
• determining a second difference in phase angles between the first difference in phase angles between the nth OFDM symbol and the nth+1 OFDM symbol and the first difference in phase angles between the nth+1 OFDM symbol and the nth+2 OFDM symbol to identify the frequency offset, wherein nε{1, . . . , N};
• and
• correcting, by the receiver, the signal using the determined frequency offset.

A receiver comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a non-transitory computer readable medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, said computer readable program code adapted to be executed by the processor to determine by the receiver, a frequency offset in a signal comprising a set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols, the determining including:
• determining a first difference in phase angles between an nth OFDM symbol and an nth+1 OFDM symbol on a common OFDM carrier and a first difference in phase angles between the nth+1 OFDM symbol and a nth+2 OFDM symbol on the common OFDM carrier,
• determining a second difference in phase angles between the first difference in phase angles between the nth OFDM symbol and the nth+1 OFDM symbol and the first difference in phase angles between the nth+1 OFDM symbol and the nth+2 OFDM symbol to identify the frequency offset, wherein nε{1, . . . , N} and
• correcting, by the receiver, the signal using the determined frequency offset.
