Abstract
This invention relates to a new method for the production of nitride-based phosphors, in particular, of phosphors containing rare earth elements. The phosphors can be used, for example, in light sources, especially in Light Emitting Devices (LEDs).
Claims20
A method for producing crystalline nitride phosphors comprising the step of
- (i) reacting a halide with ammonia NH3 and a metal source M to produce the crystalline nitride phosphors, wherein the halide is a binary halide designated as DXn, wherein D denotes an element of Group XIII, XIV or XV of the Periodic Table of Elements, X denotes a halogen, and n=3, 4 or 5.
