Abstract
A method of forming monodispersed metal nanowires comprising: forming a reaction mixture including a metal salt, a capping agent and a quaternary ammonium chloride in a reducing solvent at a first temperature; and forming metal nanowires by reducing the metal salt in the reaction mixture.

A composition comprising:
- a metal salt;
- a capping agent selected from poly(vinyl pyrrolidone), polyacrylamide, polyacrylic and copolymers thereof;
- a quaternary ammonium chloride;
- and
- a reducing solvent including at least two hydroxyl groups, wherein a molar ratio of the quaternary ammonium chloride and the metal salt is between about 0.001 and about 0.1.

- a metal salt;
- a capping agent selected from poly(vinyl pyrrolidone), polyacrylamide, polyacrylic and copolymers thereof;
- a quaternary ammonium chloride;
- a reducing solvent including at least two hydroxyl groups;
- a plurality of metal nanowires;
- and wherein a molar ratio of the quaternary ammonium chloride and the metal salt is between about 0.001 and about 0.1.
