A silicone hydrogel contact lens having a water content of about 10 to about 60 weight % and an average tear film breakup time is at least about 7 seconds after about 7 days of wear, wherein said contact lens is formed from a reaction mixture comprising at least one hydrophilic monomer, high molecular weight hydrophilic polymer and a compatibilizing effective amount of hydroxyl-functionalized silicone-containing monomer selected from the group consisting of (3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropyloxy)propylbis(trimethylsiloxy)methylsilane, (2-methacryloxy-3-hydroxypropyloxy)propylbis(trimethylsiloxy)methylsilane, (3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropyloxy)propyltris(trimethylsiloxy)silane, bis-3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropyloxypropyl polydimethylsiloxane, 3-methacryloxy-2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)propyloxy)propylbis(trimethylsiloxy)methylsilane, N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropyl)-α,ω-bis-3-aminopropyl-polydimethylsiloxane and mixtures thereof.
