Abstract
A method of fabricating a three-dimensional printed part includes injecting a powder layer with an aqueous solution and curing the powder layer by depositing an acid gas on the powder layer to form a rigid structure.
Claims18
A method of fabricating a three-dimensional printed part, comprising:
- injecting an aqueous solution including water and a fluid binder from a three-dimensional printer head onto a first powder layer comprising alumina and silicon powder particles with a mean particle size between about 20 microns and about 150 microns, and a dry water-soluble binder including from about 1% to about 10% by weight polyvinylpyrrolidone and from about 1% to about 30% by weight sodium silicate mixed with the powder particles;
- curing the first powder layer by depositing carbon dioxide on the first powder layer to form a rigid structure between 0.1 and 10 seconds after injecting the powder layer with the aqueous solution.
A method, comprising:
- injecting an aqueous solution including water and a fluid binder onto a first powder layer comprising aggregate particles and a dry water-soluble binder including polyvinylpyrrolidone and at least one of sodium silicate or potassium silicate mixed with the aggregate particles;
- and
- curing the first powder layer by depositing an acid gas on the first powder layer.
A method, comprising:
- injecting an aqueous solution onto a first powder layer comprising a powdered dehydrated binder constituent that is soluble in a polar solvent;
- curing the first powder layer by depositing an acid gas on the first powder layer;
- applying a second powder layer comprising the powdered dehydrated binder constituent;
- injecting the aqueous solution onto the second powder layer such that the first powder layer is at least partially hydrated;
- and
- curing the second powder layer by depositing the acid gas onto the second powder layer after injecting the first powder layer with the aqueous solution, curing the second powder layer to form a rigid structure comprising the first and second powder layers.
