Method and system for remote configuration of a computing device

One or more non-transitory, machine readable media comprising a plurality of instructions that in response to being executed result in a computing device:

• generating user updated platform data based on input received from a user of the computing device, the user updated platform data identifying platform-specific parameters related to a memory of the computing device;
• transmitting the user updated platform data over a network to a server computer;
• receiving initialization data from the server computer in response to the user updated platform data being validated by the server computer, the initialization data to be used by initialization code executed by the computing device to initialize the memory and a processor of the computing device;
• and
• storing the initialization data in the memory of the computing device.

A computing device comprising:

• a first processor;
• a second processor communicatively coupled to the first processor via a plurality of data links;
• and
• a firmware memory having stored therein initialization code that is executed by the processor in response to the processor being reset, the initialization code causing the processor to:
• access initialization data stored in the firmware memory, the initialization data generated based on platform-specific parameters of the computing device related to a memory controller of the computing device;
• initialize the processor dependent on the initialization data;
• and
• initialize the memory controller dependent on the initialization data,
• wherein the initialization code causes at least one of the first processor and the second processor to initialize the data links dependent on the initialization data.
