Abstract
Briefly, some embodiments of the invention may provide devices, systems and methods of in-phase and quadrature mismatch analysis and correction. For example, a method in accordance with an embodiment of the invention may include re-encoding an estimated symbol of an input signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component, based on an analysis of a mismatch between said in-phase component and said quadrature component.
Claims19
A method executable by a wireless communication device, the method comprising:
- receiving a signal, wherein the signal includes an in-phase component and a quadrature component;
- estimating one or more symbols within the signal;
- analyzing a mismatch between the in-phase component of the signal and the quadrature component of the signal;
- based upon analyzing the mismatch between the in-phase component of the signal and the quadrature component of the signal, re-encoding the one or more symbols within the signal to generate a re-encoded signal;
- and
- multiplying the re-encoded signal by a correction matrix to correct the mismatch between the in-phase component and the quadrature component in the re-encoded signal to thereby generate a corrected re-encoded signal,
- wherein the correction matrix is an inverse matrix of a substantially best value gain mismatch and substantially best value phase mismatch model of the in-phase component and the quadrature component.

A wireless communication device comprising:
- a receiver configured to receive a signal having an in-phase component and a quadrature component;
- an equalizer configured to estimate one or more symbols within the signal;
- a correction unit configured to analyze a mismatch between the in-phase component of the signal and the quadrature component of the signal;
- and
- an encoder configured to re-encode, based upon analyzing the mismatch between the in-phase component of the signal and the quadrature component of the signal, the one or more symbols within the signal to generate a re-encoded signal;
- wherein the correction unit is further configured to multiply the re-encoded signal by a correction matrix to correct the mismatch between the in-phase component and the quadrature component in the re-encoded signal to thereby generate a corrected re-encoded signal,
- wherein the correction matrix is an inverse matrix of a substantially best value gain mismatch and substantially best value phase mismatch model of the in-phase component and the quadrature component.

An article comprising:
- a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium;
- and
- instructions tangibly stored in the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, the instructions being executable by a programmable processor to enable the programmable processor to
- estimate one or more symbols within a signal;
- analyze a mismatch between the in-phase component of the signal and the quadrature component of the signal;
- re-encode, based upon analyzing the mismatch between the in-phase component of the signal and the quadrature component of the signal, the one or more symbols within the signal to generate a re-encoded signal;
- and
- multiply the re-encoded signal by a correction matrix to correct the mismatch between the in-phase component and the quadrature component in the re-encoded signal to thereby generate a corrected re-encoded signal,
- wherein the correction matrix is an inverse matrix of a substantially best value gain mismatch and substantially best value phase mismatch model of the in-phase component and the quadrature component.
