Abstract
A portable electronic device includes a touch-sensitive display and a piezoelectric actuator disposed and preloaded on a support and arranged to provide tactile feedback to the touch-sensitive display in response to an actuation signal. The touch-sensitive display may be biased toward the piezoelectric actuator to preload the piezoelectric actuator.
Claims25
A portable electronic device comprising:
- a touch-sensitive display;
- a piezoelectric actuator disposed and preloaded on a support and arranged to provide tactile feedback to the touch-sensitive display in response to an actuation signal, wherein the piezoelectric actuator and the touch-sensitive display are compressively stacked when the display is not depressed.
A portable electronic device comprising:
- a touch-sensitive display;
- a piezoelectric actuator arranged to provide tactile feedback to the touch-sensitive display in response to an actuation signal, wherein the touch-sensitive display is biased toward the piezoelectric actuator to preload the piezoelectric actuator, and wherein the piezoelectric actuator and the touch-sensitive display are compressively stacked when the display is not depressed.
A portable electronic device comprising:
- a housing;
- a touch-sensitive display movable with respect to the housing;
- a piezoelectric actuator preloaded between the housing and the touch-sensitive display, wherein the piezoelectric actuator and the touch-sensitive display are compressively stacked when the display is not depressed;
- a force sensor arranged such that depression of the touch-sensitive display causes the force sensor to generate a force signal;
- a processor configured to receive the force signal and to provide an actuation signal to the piezoelectric actuator, which actuation signal causes the piezoelectric actuator to provide tactile feedback to the touch-sensitive display.
