Appliance timer

A selector for a timer, comprising:

• a shaft assembly including:
• a hollow shaft body having a locking member with a pair of legs extending from the hollow shaft body and being diametrically opposed to one another, and a pair of diametrically disposed slots, the pair of legs defining an outer periphery, and the pair of legs being movable between an undeflected position and a deflected position;
• a retaining member disposed within the hollow shaft body and movable axially relative to the hollow shaft body, the retaining member having a pair of extensions configured to extend through the pair of diametrically disposed slots in the hollow shaft body to maintain the pair of legs in the undeflected position;
• and
• a knob removably mounted to the locking member, the knob having an insertion hole and a receiving space, the insertion hole having a diameter that is less than the outer periphery formed by the pair of legs of the locking member, and the insertion hole being configured to receive the pair of legs of the locking member and to move the pair of legs to the deflected position, and the receiving space being configured to enable the pair of legs to move from the deflected position to the undeflected position to lock the knob to the hollow shaft body in response to the retaining member being moved to a first axial position, and the knob being enabled for removal from the hollow shaft body in response to the retaining member being moved to a second axial position.
