Communication manager for providing multimedia in a group communication network

A non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a set of instructions, wherein the set of instructions when executed by one or more processors comprises:

• a set of instructions for receiving a first media of a first type;
• a set of instructions for receiving a second media of a second type, the first and second media each being received from one of a plurality of communication devices (CDs);
• and
• a set of instructions for communicating multimedia among the plurality of CDs operating in a group communication network, further selectively broadcasting the first media, the second media, or both concurrently, to at least one of the plurality of CDs via a half duplex channel based on an expected capability of one or more of the plurality of CDs to play the first and second types of media.

An apparatus for communicating multimedia among a plurality of communication devices (CDs) operating in a group communication network, comprising:

• means for receiving a first media of a first type;
• means for receiving a second media of a second type, the first and second media each being received from one of the plurality of CDs;
• and
• means for selectively broadcasting the first media, the second media, or both concurrently, to at least one of the plurality of CDs via a half duplex channel based on an expected capability of one or more of the plurality of CDs to play the first and second types of media.

A communication manager, comprising:

• a receiver capable to receive a first media and a second media of first and second types, respectively, the first and second media each being received from one of a plurality of communication devices (CDs);
• a transmitter;
• and
• a processor programmed to communicate multimedia among the plurality of CDs operating in a group communication network capable to selectively broadcast the first media, the second media, or both concurrently, to at least one of the plurality of CDs via a half duplex channel based on an expected capability of one or more of the plurality of CDs to play the first and second types of media.
