Abstract
Provided herein are improved variants of polypeptides having cellobiohydrolase II activity, nucleic acids encoding the polypeptides, vectors, host cells containing the nucleic acids and methods for producing the polypeptides. The polypeptides encompassed by this disclosure may be used in numerous applications including the use of the polypeptides for the production of biofuels and for the synthesis of platform chemicals or biopolymers from renewable sources.
Claims20
A polypeptide having cellobiohydrolase II activity, wherein said polypeptide comprises a substitution or deletion at a position corresponding to residue H438 in CBHII from Trichoderma reesei (SEQ ID NO:
- 1), or a polypeptide at least 75% identical to SEQ ID NO:
- 1.
A polypeptide having cellobiohydrolase II activity, said polypeptide having an amino acid sequence that varies from the amino acid sequence of the wild type CBHII from Trichoderma reesei (SEQ ID NO:
- 1)), wherein the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide comprises at least one variation as compared with SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and wherein the variation occurs at position 438 of SEQ ID NO:
- 1, and wherein the variation can comprise a substitution or deletion.
