A toner for developing an electrostatic image, contains a binder resin having an acid value of from approximately 10 mgKOH/g to approximately 20 mgKOH/g and carbon black having a surface carboxyl group density of from approximately 2×10−6 mol/m to approximately 8×10−6 mol/m2, and is prepared in an aqueous medium.

A toner for developing an electrostatic image,
- comprising a binder resin having an acid value of from approximately 10 mgKOH/g to approximately 20 mgKOH/g and carbon black having a surface carboxyl group density of from approximately 2×10−6 mol/m2 to approximately 8×10−6 mol/m2, and
- being prepared in an aqueous medium.
