Abstract
In one aspect, the present invention provides a process for forming polymeric nanoparticles, which comprises using a static mixer to create a mixed flowing stream of an anti-solvent, e.g., by introducing a liquid anti-solvent into a static mixer, and introducing a polymer solution into the mixed flowing anti-solvent stream such that controlled precipitation of polymeric nanoparticles occurs. The nanoparticles can then be separated from the anti-solvent steam.
Claims62
A process for forming polymeric nanoparticles, comprising:
- generating a mixed flowing stream of an anti-solvent, and
- introducing a polymer-carrying liquid into said mixed flowing stream of the anti-solvent so as to form polymeric nanoparticles.
A population of polymeric nanoparticles, comprising:
- a plurality of polymeric nanoparticles having poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) as at least one polymeric component,
- wherein said polymeric nanoparticles exhibit an average particle size equal to or less than about 200 nm and a polydispersity index less than about 0.25.
A process for forming polymeric nanoparticles, which comprises:
- a) creating a mixed flowing stream of an anti-solvent;
- b) introducing a polymer-carrying liquid into the mixed flowing stream of the anti-solvent so as to form polymeric nanoparticles;
- c) evaluating a sample of said polymeric nanoparticles to determine if the polymeric nanoparticles meet a predefined criterion,
- thereby forming said nanoparticles.
A process for forming polymeric nanoparticles, which comprises:
- a) creating a mixed flowing stream of an anti-solvent;
- b) introducing a polymer-carrying liquid into the mixed flowing stream of the anti-solvent so as to form polymeric nanoparticles;
- c) evaluating a sample of said polymeric nanoparticles to determine if at least one attribute of the polymeric nanoparticles meets a reference value,
- thereby forming said nanoparticles.
