Exhaust connection member with preformed braided cover

A cover formed of braided metallic wire filaments for use in an exhaust system coupler, said cover comprising:

• a body section having a first diameter;
• a first end section forming a first neck having a second diameter that is less than said first diameter;
• a first shoulder extending radially between said body section and said first neck;
• a second end section forming a second neck;
• and
• a second shoulder extending radially between said body section and said second neck;
• wherein said first shoulder is generally perpendicular to said first neck in order to form a stiffened corner providing said cover with rigidity;
• wherein said first shoulder extends radially outwardly from said first neck to meet said body section at a distance from said first neck such that said cover can be placed around a bellows member and neither said body section nor said first shoulder are in contact with any corrugation of said bellows member;
• wherein said cover is self supporting between said shoulders.
