Abstract
Provided is a cellulosic composite comprised of cellulosic material and a binder. The binder comprises a reaction product of an amine and a reactant in the form of an amino-amide intermediate. To the amino-amide is added an aldehyde or ketone to form a curable binder composition. The composition when mixed with cellulosic material and cured forms a cellulosic composite.
Claims14
A cellulosic composite comprising cellulosic material and a binder comprised of an aldehyde or ketone and an amino-amide which is a reaction product of an amine and a reactant selected from the group consisting of saturated and unsaturated anhydrides, carboxylic acids, esters, and salts and mixtures of these.
A process preparing a cellulosic composite which comprises mixing cellulosic material with a binder comprised of an aldehyde or ketone and an amino-amide which is a reaction product of an amine and a reactant selected from the group consisting of saturated and unsaturated anhydrides, carboxylic acids, esters, salts and mixtures of these, and then curing the hinder when present in mixture with the cellulosic material.
