Poly(ureaurethane)s, articles and coatings prepared therefrom and methods of making the same

A poly(ureaurethane) comprising a reaction product of components comprising:

• (1) a polyisocyanate functional urethane prepolymer which is the reaction product of components comprising:
• (a) about 1 equivalent of at least one polyisocyanate;
• (b) about 0.1 to about 0.9 equivalents of at least one of glycerol, glycerin, or a branched polyol having 4 to 18 carbon atoms and at least 3 hydroxyl groups;
• (c) about 0.1 to about 0.9 equivalents of at least one of sorbitol, mannitol, or an aliphatic diol having 2 to 18 carbon atoms;
• and
• (2) at least one amine curing agent which reacts with isocyanate functional groups of the polyisocyanate functional urethane prepolymer to form a urea linkage, the amine curing agent being selected from the group consisting of:
• 4,4′-methylenebis(3-chloro-2,6-diethylaniline), 2,4-diamino-3,5-diethyl-toluene, 2,6-diamino-3,5-diethyl-toluene, dimethylthiotoluenediamine (DMTDA), 4,4′-methylene-bis-(2-chloroaniline), ethylenediamine (EDA), diethylenetriamine (DETA), triethylenetetramine (TETA), tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA), pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA), piperazine, morpholine, piperidine, diethylenediamine (DEDA), 2-amino-1-ethylpiperazine, C1-C3 dialkyl toluenediamine, methylene dianiline, trimethyleneglycol di(para-aminobenzoate), compounds of formulae (XVI)-(XXX):
• wherein R3 and R4 are each independently C1-C3 alkyl, and R5 is selected from hydrogen and halogen;
• wherein R20, R21, R22, and R23 are each independently selected from H, C1-C3 alkyl, CH3—S—and halogen,
• and mixtures thereof;
• wherein the reaction components comprise less than about 5 weight percent of polyester polyol, less than about 5 weight percent of polycarbonate polyol and less than about 5 weight percent of polyether polyol.
