Abstract
A class D amplifier includes an amplifier that generates a digital signal for driving a load based on an input signal, an attenuator that attenuates the input signal according to an attenuation command signal, and a clip prevention controller that outputs the attenuation command signal to intermittently attenuate the input signal when the digital signal is brought into a clip state or a near-clip state.
Claims41
A class D amplifier comprising:
- an amplifier that generates a digital signal for driving a load based on an input signal;
- an attenuator that attenuates the input signal according to an attenuation command signal;
- and
- a clip prevention controller that outputs the attenuation command signal to attenuate the input signal when the digital signal is brought into a clip state or a near-clip state,
- wherein the amplifier includes a differential amplifier that receives a positive phase signal via a first signal path as the input signal and a negative phase signal via a second signal path as the input signal and amplifies the received positive phase signal and the received negative phase signal, and
- wherein the attenuator is inserted between the first signal path and the second signal path and has a switch which is turned on according to the attenuation command signal.
