A method of purifying hydrogen using a pressure swing adsorption apparatus composed of two or more adsorption columns in which a plurality of adsorbents is sequentially disposed and which are disposed parallel to each other, the method comprising sequentially passing a hydrogen-containing gas mixture including impurities of water, carbon dioxide, methane, and carbon monoxide through active alumina or silica gel, activated carbon, zeolite 13X, zeolite 5A, and a carbon monoxide-selective adsorbent other than the zeolite 5A, which are disposed in the adsorption columns, so that the hydrogen-containing gas mixture is purified to highly pure hydrogen containing less than 10 ppm carbon monoxide.
