Abstract
An outboard motor includes an engine, an exhaust guide, and a catalyst. The engine includes a cylinder and crankshaft. The crankshaft is disposed along a vertical direction. The exhaust guide is arranged to support the engine from below. The catalyst is disposed in an interior of the engine. The engine includes a cylinder body. The cylinder body includes a housing portion arranged to house the catalyst. The cylinder body includes a first exhaust passage that includes an interior of the housing portion. The catalyst is inserted into the housing portion from below and is sandwiched from above and below by the housing portion and the exhaust guide.
Claims11
An outboard motor comprising:
- an engine including a cylinder, and a crankshaft disposed along a vertical direction;
- an exhaust guide arranged to support the engine from below;
- and
- a catalyst disposed in an interior of the engine;
- wherein
- the engine includes a cylinder body including a housing portion unitary with the cylinder body and arranged to house the catalyst;
- the cylinder body includes a first exhaust passage that includes an interior of the housing portion;
- the housing portion includes, at a lower end portion of the cylinder body, an opening that is not smaller than an outer shape of the catalyst such that the catalyst fits through the opening when inserted from below;
- the catalyst is sandwiched from above and below by the housing portion and the exhaust guide, respectively, when the catalyst is inserted into the housing portion;
- and
- the catalyst is disposed at a side of the cylinder, and the cylinder body includes a first cooling water passage disposed in a periphery of the cylinder and a second cooling water passage disposed in a periphery of the catalyst, the second cooling water passage is connected to the first cooling water passage at a location between the cylinder and the catalyst.
An outboard motor comprising:
- an engine including a cylinder, and a crankshaft disposed along a vertical direction;
