Abstract
A fluid control system for use with a patient support apparatus is moveable from a first height to a second height. The system includes a lift arm and a substantially upright cylinder. A first end of the lift arm is pivotably coupled to a base member and a second end of the lift arm is coupled to a chair structure. The cylinder assembly has a base portion and an extendable member configured to contact and support the lift arm. The cylinder assembly includes a bypass valve having a first end in fluid contact with an upper reservoir and a second end in fluid contact with a lower reservoir.
Claims9
A patient support apparatus moveable from a first height to a second height, the apparatus comprising:
- a chair structure;
- a base member;
- a lift arm with a first end and a second end, the first end of the lift arm being pivotably coupled to the base member and the second end of the lift arm being coupled to the chair structure;
- and
- a cylinder assembly having a base portion and an extendable member configured to contact and support the lift arm, the extendable member being moveable between at least first and second positions, the cylinder assembly comprising a valve having a first end in fluid contact with an upper reservoir and a second end in fluid contact with a lower reservoir,
- wherein the valve is configured to open under certain predetermined conditions and to permit flow between the upper and lower reservoir.
