Method for call forwarding without hairpinning and with split billing

A method for use in a communications system in which a call, placed from an originating location by a calling party to a dialed number associated with a terminating location of a called party, is forwarded to a forwarding location without the call having been connected through the terminating location, the method comprising

• billing to the calling party a first amount for the call and billing to the called party a second amount for the call, the first amount being a function of the originating location and the terminating location, the second amount being a function of the terminating location and the forwarding location,
• the first amount corresponding to the equivalent cost of a call between the originating location and the terminating location,
• the second amount corresponding to the equivalent cost of a non-forwarded call between the originating location and the forwarding location minus the first amount.
