Method and system for utilizing direct digital frequency synthesis to process signals in multi-band applications

A system for processing wireless signals, the system comprising:

• one or more circuits for use in a multi-band wireless receiver chip, said one or more circuits comprising one or more direct digital frequency synthesizers, wherein:
• said one or more direct digital frequency synthesizers are operable to perform a calibration of said multi-band wireless receiver chip upon power up of said multi-band wireless receiver chip;
• said one or more direct digital frequency synthesizers are operable to generate one or more calibration signals during said calibration, each calibration signal having a frequency corresponding to the frequency of a channel over which said multi-band wireless receiver chip is to receive signals;
• said one or more direct digital frequency synthesizers applying said one or more calibration signals directly to an input of at least one baseband filter to calibrate said at least one baseband filter during said calibration;
• subsequent to said calibration, said one or more direct digital frequency synthesizers are operable to generate a plurality of reference signals that are utilized for downconverting, within said multi-band wireless receiver chip, received VHF signals, received UHF signals and received L-band signals;
• and
• each of said direct digital frequency synthesizers comprises an accumulator having an output that is coupled to one or more digital-to-analog converters.
