Abstract
The invention relates to the novel cotton variety designated 09R573B2R2. Provided by the invention are the seeds, plants, plant parts and derivatives of the cotton variety 09R573B2R2. Also provided by the invention are tissue cultures of the cotton variety 09R573B2R2 and the plants regenerated therefrom. Still further provided by the invention are methods for producing cotton plants by crossing the cotton variety 09R573B2R2 with itself or another cotton variety and plants produced by such methods.

A plant of cotton variety 09R573B2R2, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13006.
A seed of cotton variety 09R573B2R2, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13006.
A method of producing a cotton plant comprising an added desired trait, the method comprising introducing a transgene conferring the desired trait into a plant of cotton variety 09R573B2R2, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13006.
A method of introducing a single locus conversion into cotton variety 09R573B2R2 comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of variety 09R573B2R2 with a second plant to produce cotton seed, wherein the second plant comprises a desired single locus and wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13006;
- (b) growing F1 progeny plants from the seed and selecting at least a first F1 progeny plant that has the single locus to produce selected F1 progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with at least a first plant of variety 09R573B2R2 to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting backcross progeny plants that have the single locus and physiological and morphological characteristics of cotton variety 09R573B2R2 to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and
- (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) in succession until backcross progeny plants are obtained that comprise the single locus and otherwise comprise essentially all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of cotton variety 09R573B2R2 when grown in the same environmental conditions.
A plant produced by introducing a single locus conversion into cotton variety 09R573B2R2, or a selfed progeny of said plant that comprises the single locus conversion, wherein the single locus was introduced into cotton variety 09R573B2R2 by backcrossing or genetic transformation and wherein representative seed of said cotton variety 09R573B2R2 have been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13006.
A method of producing a cotton plant derived from the cotton variety 09R573B2R2, the method comprising crossing a plant of variety 09R573B2R2 with a second, distinct cotton plant to produce a cotton plant derived from the cotton variety 09R573B2R2, wherein a sample of seed of said variety has been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-13006.
