Claims26
A lithium ion battery, comprising:
- an electrolyte;
- a lithium accumulation layer disposed adjacent to the electrolyte, the lithium accumulation layer comprising nanoparticles of a metal oxide coordinated to a first peptide,
- wherein a portion of the first peptide comprises a majority of amino acids having carboxylic acid side chains and has both an affinity for the metal oxide and an ability to influence microstructure of the nanoparticles of the metal oxide;
- and
- wherein the portion of the first peptide comprises the sequence AEEEED (SEQ ID NO:
- 1) and the metal is cobalt.
