Abstract
A stem web is disclosed that comprises a backing layer having a first surface and a second surface, and an array of 600 to 20000 upstanding stems projecting from the first surface of the backing. The stems comprise a height from 0.3 and 2.0 millimeters and a shore hardness less than 90A. In one embodiment, the stem web further comprises a reinforcing layer secured to the second surface. In one embodiment, the stem web is secured to a tool to be passed across a surface to be cleaned to capture lint and hair.
Claims23
A stem web comprising:
- a backing layer having a first surface and a second surface;
- an array of from 50 to 1000 upstanding stems per square centimeter projecting from the first surface of the backing, wherein each stem is solid, flexible, has a height from 0.3 to 2.0 millimeters, a shore hardness less than 70A, and at least a portion of each stem being formed from elastomeric material, wherein an entirety of each stem projects in a planar direction away from the first surface.
A stem web comprising:
- an elastomeric backing layer having a first surface and a second surface integrally formed with an array of upstanding stems projecting from the first surface of the backing, wherein the stems comprise a height from 0.5 and 1.5 millimeters, a density of 50 to 250 stems/cm2, a shore hardness of less than 105A, and a coefficient of friction of at least 0.8, wherein an entirety of each of the stems projects in a planar direction away from the first surface and wherein each stem includes a base adjacent to the backing layer and a tip distal to the backing layer, each stem tapering inward from the base to the tip;
- and
- a reinforcing layer secured to the second surface of the backing layer for providing an attachment surface.
