Abstract
The current invention relates to methods of making nano-particles of a material with a narrow polydispersity. The particle materials are active agents, organic compounds, polymers, and combinations thereof.
Claims20
A method for forming particles of a material comprising:
- adding an organic solution comprising a material and an organic solvent to an aqueous solution comprising an emulsifier and water;
- and
- sonicating the aqueous solution during the addition of the organic solution;
- wherein the sonication apparatus is at least partially submersed in the aqueous solution but does not touch any part of the apparatus used in the addition of the organic solution to the aqueous solution;
- and
- wherein the point of addition of the organic solution to the aqueous solution is within the wave funnel produced by the sonication and within a selected distance from the wave source depending on the desired particle size.
